Am experiencing some problems with slow running on my GLXi Space Wagon- year 1997 - 2.0 litre model.

Tick-over from cold is high at 2000rpm[ normal = 1000-1100 rpm] and erratic between 2-2500rpm.
Could this be an air-control valve problem?
Having been brought up on manual chokes etc this is new territory for me!!?

Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

yep could be the air control valve also known as the air bypass.
this can cause problems at any time but mostly if the throttle has been cleaned and solvent has gone down the bypass hole and damaged the valve or servo
