Ok! I want to get rid of the seat belt chime. I understand how to connect the two metal parts to trick the system. The question I have is how to take apart the seat belt plastic I cant figure it out. Please dont post about how seat belts save life ect... Its a simple question all I need is a simple answer.

LOL this is more simple than you think it is. follow your seat belt clasp down to the floor. there is a set of wires coming out of the vinyl wrap. unplug the wire. this should stop the dinging. if it does not, take a 2 inch piece of thin wire and place it in the plug so it loops the wires. then electrical tape it together so you don't start a fire. (not that it will start a fire, but its better to be safe than sorry.)

you could just clip the wires and connect them together, but i offered the procedure above so that when you go to resale your car you can plug it back in.

hope that helps you.

You know I have a sportsbike. I think there a greater chance I will die from that then in my car. I paid a lot of money for it I should be able to do whatever I want.

i believed he asked that you not mention statistics, especially fake ones. 1,000,000+ per day? are you kidding? that would have to be throughout the entire world, and i highly doubt a lot of people from 3rd world countries even have cars. (if there starving why would they own a car?)

true, i've always hated the seat belt law in PA. if I ride my bike I don't need a helmet but if i'm in my car I can get fined for not wearing a seat belt? how dumb is that!

some people go to junkyards and buy an extra clip to plug into the clasp so the car things you are buckled up.

the +1,000,000 was not showing how many died per day. It was more towards giving him credit for saying it, and i didn't think it would bring up a big commotion.

I guess my whole curiosity is why wouldn't anyone want to be as safe as possible?

I don't have to wear a seatbelt, but I do, just because I'd prefer not to die. I don't have to wear a helmet on a bike, but I do, just to avoid having my head smashed apart. I'm not required to wear a parachute when I sky dive, but it just might be a good idea.

Some people believe that seatbelts are uncomfortable. I think a steering column through the chest is a little less comfortable.

It all depends on where you hit the tree, and other factors that take place, but you could of just been lucky.

cripes, you're really a tool.
dont want a lecture? Well, I dont want my insurance rates jacked because others are idiots. for every moron killed, insurance companies jack everyone else.
on the other hand, natural selection has a way of working this stuff out.

* One out of every five drivers will be involved in a traffic crash this year.

* Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among people age 44 and younger and the number one cause of head and spinal cord injury.

* Approximately 35,000 people die in motor vehicle crashes each year. About 50 percent (17,000) of these people could be saved if they wore their safety belts.

* More than 90 percent of all motorists believe safety belts are good idea, but less than 14 percent actually use them.

* For every one percent increase in safety belt use, 172 lives and close to $100 million in annual injury and death costs could be saved.

* Safety belts when used properly reduce the number of serious traffic injuries by 50 percent and fatalities by 60-70 percent.

* For maximum protection safety belts should be fastened before traveling any distance or speed. Seventy-five percent of crash deaths and injuries occur within 25 miles of home. More than half of all injury-producing motor vehicle crashes involve low speeds under 40 m.p.h.

this is my favorite

* Motorists are 25 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured when they are "thrown clear" than when remain inside their vehicle.

* In a 30 m.p.h. collision an unbelted 160 lb. Person can strike another passenger, crash through a windshield and/or slam into the vehicle's interior with a 4,800 lb. force.

* Motorists can increase safety belt usage by example and verbal reminders. Nine out of 10 people buckle up when asked.

* Safety belt use is one of the best defenses against the unpredictable actions of the drunk driver.

* Today over 25 countries around the world have some type of mandatory safety belt law. Results of these laws were measured; usage rate went from 20-25 percent before passage to 60-90 percent after passage.

* A common cause of death and injury to children in motor vehicles is being crushed by adults who are not wearing safety belts. On out of four serious injuries to passengers is caused by occupants being thrown into each other.

* About 80 percent of all injuries to children in car crashes are injuries to the head, causing brain damage, permanent disfigurement, epilepsy or death.

* Of every 100 children who die in motor vehicle crashes at least 80 would survive if they were properly secured in an approved child safety seat or safety belts.

* Three out of four families with child safety seats fail to use them correctly. Adults need to follow manufacturer's instructions and secure seats properly before every trip.

* An estimated 80 percent of American children area immunized against contagious diseases, but less than 10 percent are properly restrained when riding in a motor vehicle.

I hit a deer at 50mph totalled my car airbag didn't deploy. All about where it hits.

I was 16 once, was a passenger, hit a lady going 35 mph. Not even that fast. Went head first into the dash, b/c no seatbelt. Sprained my neck in 2 places. and have a scar when I got raped by the dash. I went though physical therapy for 8 months and I am still not right years later.

what i'm trying to say is it may be uncomfortable but just cause you don't go though the window or whatnot doesn't mean you cant pay for it in other ways. You're just stupid if you don't wear it..... I guess smarts come with age. when you get ***** up don't **** here!

+1 manybrews for the info! Not surprising but still thanks!

The chime is there for a reason... the seatbelt laws are there for a reason. You don't like the chime? Then get rid of the car and walk wherever you need to go or use public transporation.

I think everyone needs to get off their high horses...particularly if you're harping on about "it's the law"...

The only people who can ever make comments like that are people who have never ever broken the law in any way...rolling slowly through that stupid stop sign in your neighbourhood that 'nobody ever stops at' or breaking the speedlimit (just had to be once and only by 1 mph) or jaywalking....they're all laws!

Bottom line, people have different reasons for doing things...I wear my seatbelt religiously & without fail when I'm on the road but I too am interested in a clean way of stopping the seatbelt chime as I have a driveway that's 400 meters long...at the entrance I get out, check the mail box and get back in and now drive slowly (the dogs and cats) all the way down the driveway to my garage...the chime gets hell of a irritating and it's a schlep to put my belt back on *in my own driveway*

If some ***** wants to never wear their seatbelt when driving on the open road, shut up and let the cops catch him or let him die when he gets into a wreck!

Man if its that big of a deal, just buckle your seatbelt up and sit on it, put the strap around the back of the seat, f@#$ b'y. Not a simple task, now you've started a huge pointless debate on here and **** some people off.

you seem to miss the point that we ALL pay out of the **** because of idiots like that.
every one percent increase in seatbelt use cuts 100 million off of expenses derived from accidents, deaths, etc.
