So my buddy has a 99 eclipse that never had a working speedometer he had problems with his tranny not workin so had it fixed as well as the speedo now the speedo reads 110 mph when he's doing 70 mph as if there was a wire switched any info on this? is it a computer issue just swapped wire? any ideas?

does he have aftermarket wheels on it? that can screw up the speedo's accuracy if they are different width/diameter than the originals.

by 50 mph?
yes he does but i would think that would make only a little difference like 10 or 15 at most

ye that would not make a 50 mph difference.. maybe 3 at the mot.

In the 2 trannies I have worked on, the speed sensor was a little thing that was mounted at the rear of the tranny that had a gear on it, although those were both automatic and rear wheel drive. But one thing that it could be, like it was on one of the trannies for me, is some teeth broke off or were just ground off. Also could be bad wiring.


When in doubt, and the mechanical parts work, blame wiring :D
