It look like there is a small coolant leak on my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse. There is a small amount of green stuff on the hose connected from the radiator and then to the engine. The coolant reservoir seems to be at low every few weeks until I fill it up. Is this normal? My engine has not been overheating.

the only reason the coolant level would go down is because of serious overheating or leak. because you said your engine doesnt overheat, its probably a leak. jack your car up if you need to, and look around your radiator for leaks. also check the hose clamp and make sure its not loose and stays on firm

Is the coolant reservoir a read out of how much coolant your car has? Someone told me that it might not be accurate because there can be coolant in the radiator.

That's not a coolant reservoir, it's a coolant OVERFLOW tank. You want to keep it full to the recommended level, and coolant will overflow into that container and then suck back into the radiator.

Correct, your reservoir is your engine and radiator.
