Alright, I need some wisdom. '94 Expo lrv 2.4 16v 4g64 broke a balance belt and it got wadded up causing the cam belt to tear and jump two teeth. I replaced the belts, and after I timed it, the valve train made a ticking noise. I assumed that valves were damaged. So I pulled the head and everything looks like new. There are no contact marks on the valves or the pistons. Could it be lash adjusters? How do I know which one or one's are noisy? The noise doesn't go away with RPM's like I would expect it to if it were lifters. What do I need to do here to find the noise? I have another head I can use but I don't want to replace this one if it's usable. Anyone had a similar experience? Would you run this head making noise? Thanks in advance.

if the tappets are self adjusting replace the ones
that are hammered or have damaged seals

also check the top of the valves for hammering/ bent or flat spots
if unsure ask a head and engine reconditioner or mechanic for their opinion before refitting the head

Mildly bent valves might appear normal. You will not know if if they are damaged until you machine them. Frankly, since you have the head off the motor, you should have it rebuilt and install new valve guides.

And that will tell you if they were bad.
