We've gotten a lot of calls about our Lancer flash and are happy to announce that we are now doing mail in flashes for the 2008 Lancer. We use your original ECU and rework it with better air/fuel and timing maps to give better performance throughout the entire rev range. The new flash has shown peak gains of around 17 horsepower and 13 lb/ft of torque but more importantly gives a nice broad power curve that is extremely usuable. It will also give some increase in fuel economy.

Here's a recent dyno graph from our in house dyno. Sorry the graph points aren't marked for the before run, the box in green is actually just a lower point along the power curve of one of our "flashed" runs. But if you ignore the numbers in the box and look at the graph itself you'll see power gains of around 17 horsepower and on the torque side its around 13 lb/ft.

(IMG:http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l39/billyballer/Lancer-before-after-stock.jpg)

Mail us your ECU and we can turn it around in about 48 hours. If we get it in the morning we can often get it sent back out the same day.

Hope the Lancer community likes the new Flash.

For the ECU gas settings:

Did you guys include an 87 octane option in addition to the current choices of only 91 and 93?

Or even an 89 octane option?

I know that running the higher octane will yeild better HP & TQ #'s, but who really wants the extra cost of premium fuel? I for 1 would love extra power, but not if I have to run premium. Mid grade would be nice....87 would be better yet.

For those about to pounce on me.....I am aware that the price of 1 fuel over another wouldn't be alot...but @ the end of the month....the year....it adds up.
Maybe that's just me being a tight wad with my $$$$$....but it's hard to come by & harder to keep it....especially when WORKS keeps coming out with awesome products :bwekk:

I understand that nothing you do to your car automatically voids your warrenty, but... does this company provide any type of gurantee or warrenty themselves if something goes wrong with the ECU or something else and the dealership directly links that problem to the flash?? Thanks

I also use a lower grade fuel and would like to know the specs on that??

Don't forget guys, you are getting some better gas mileage with the flash too. Depending on how much of the gain you get, it just might even out. As far as mileage is concerned, you never know...

MPG with 87 octane and stock ECU = MPG with 93 octane and Works ECU
(The above statement is not proven and is entirely theoretical... but that don't mean it ain't true!)

I noticed in the PDF that each ECU is programmed to your individual car with whatever mods you have. If I order the ECU, will there be a way for me to update it for a new exhaust or turbo that may or may not come later on?

To respond to a couple of questions,
1. We looked into doing an 87 octane flash, and in fact we have the ability to do it, the problem is with such low octane gas you wont see any power gains. In fact even in a bone stock Lancer there is probably a slight power difference between 87 and 91 octane. The stock ECU is smart enough to recognize 87 octane fuel and it switches to a less aggressive map when it senses this. But running 91 allows us much more room to play with ignition and fuel maps without running into detonation problems. It also makes a lot of power.

WORKS offers a factory matched warranty which applies to our off the shelf flashes. This means that we will match the factories warranty for issues that have to do with our parts. So if there are problems with the flash we will take care of it.

Lastly we can upgrade the flash for you down the road to accomodate new modifications. You will still have to send your ECU in however. Our policy is, if you upgrade your car with WORKS modifications we will reflash it for no cost.

hope this is helpful,

-Bill

Cool, thanks Bill. I know most people are concerned about HP and TQ gains, but as you can tell, a few of us want more power without sacrificing fuel efficiency (aka perfection). Personally, I've noticed that I get the same mileage with 87 octane and 93 octane, so I stopped using 93 (for those of you interested, Marathon sells 93 octane), since I figured it wasn't worth the additional cost.

Assuming you keep the same driving habits, how much of an MPG gain are we talking about? I know this is a performance tune, but curiosity just gets the best of us sometimes

87 is regular.
89 is medium.
91 is premium.

Think of 93 octane as a super premium.

Yikes! Now that's what I call high quality go-go juice!

Yep....that's all we got here: 87, 89, 91 or 93. Unless we hit a few of the other stations & get racing fuel....something like 103 or 105 or 108...something like that. It's been years since I've gotten any......er, uh...racing fuel that is
