a nice tsi would be better to build on as the 1G talon/eclipse engines are known to handle more abuse from boosting, and plus you will have a both a fast 1G and a daily driver 3G.
+1 on keeping the 3G for a DD and buying a AWD talon TSI and building that up.

Drives: 1996 Talon AWD. Built, but no longer drives: 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS; 1990 Talon AWD; 1995 Talon AWD, 1997 Talon AWD. Seems like a pattern

QUOTE(Lewiman06 @ Jun 26 2008, 12:49 AM) the 1g tsi (awd) is the obvious choice to me.

QUOTE(03clypse @ Jun 26 2008, 06:06 PM) yeah 4g63 is powerful but think about 4g64 with dohc.. that will def be better than 4g63! 4g64 is bored more and stroked more so the block is obviously the better of the two but its the head that separates them. think of my 3g 4g64 dohc awd turbo...! that would be a rediculous car right? and cost you somewhere in the excess of 15 grand to do it all. 10 grand to have a shop do a rear diff custom fit, and 5 grand on everything else. it would be sick to do if you wanted to spend the money, but most people would rather just add more boost in a AWD 1G eclipse.
