i researched the dohc swap for my 3g and i think its too much money for the performance i would get so ive came to a final decision and would like input on ppl that have had either one of these cars. 3g gst or 1g talon tsi. cant decide if i want to boost my 3g or just keep it for DD and buy a talon tsi and fix it up. what do you guys think? i would love to just boost my car but im not sure if it would really be that fast so anybody know how it is?

if those are really your two choices then its clear to me. get a talon TSI. but i'd find an AWD drive one since after a few months of having it thats what you'll wish you did. this not only provides you with a boosted car, it also lets you keep a realiable car as your DD. if you started boosting your 3g you'd be out of a car for a while.

the 1g tsi (awd) is the obvious choice to me.

a nice tsi would be better to build on as the 1G talon/eclipse engines are known to handle more abuse from boosting, and plus you will have a both a fast 1G and a daily driver 3G.

+1 on keeping the 3G for a DD and buying a AWD talon TSI and building that up.

Keep your 3G as a daily and mod a 1G if you want performance (atleast given the choices you presented).

How about a rear wheel drive japanese car? I was looking at s14's for a project car a little while back and they are pretty affordable if you can find one, and while I haven't poked around an owners forum they are supposed to be decently easy to engine swap with the much better inline 6 from the Skyline.

i think a 1g awd would suit 03clipse better. i'm assuming he doesn't know how to do an engine swap, nor has the materials. a 4g63 is the easiest platform i've worked on and an easy one to learn if your new. i'd stick with the easy to get/cheap to buy 1g tsi (awd)

I just poked around ebay, most of the 240s at least have the much better 2 liter 4 cylinder in them, the 6 is rare. A nice 96 with a swap was up there in my area for 6500, too bad i needed a car 3 months ago.

yeah 4g63 is powerful but think about 4g64 with dohc.. that will def be better than 4g63! 4g64 is bored more and stroked more so the block is obviously the better of the two but its the head that separates them. think of my 3g 4g64 dohc awd turbo...! that would be a rediculous car right?

and cost you somewhere in the excess of 15 grand to do it all. 10 grand to have a shop do a rear diff custom fit, and 5 grand on everything else. it would be sick to do if you wanted to spend the money, but most people would rather just add more boost in a AWD 1G eclipse.

for that cost you could ride in a supra, or any other 20000 dollar car. i'm sticking by a 2000 dollar gsx/tsi and call it a day.

if you wanna be different then mitsu can't help you. get a supra and you'll be pretty darn different. or make a 3kgt RWD, then you'll be different. but if you want to save your wallet then you'll want to conform. there's a reason people are different and cars are hard to find. because they are expencive, to be different is costly. to drive a 12 second eclipse is not different, though fast a hell. this is the cheapest and most practical way. (1g awd) anything out side of that is gonna run you mad money. :57:

well, if you do have a question about turboing your ride or supercharging it, get ahold of SC Customs. he has a turbo 3g.
