Hey peoples,

If someone could help me with my lack of knowledge that would be awesome. I have a 1996 GTO TT all standard, I have a couple of TD06 turbos ordered, larger injectors, internals to be strengthened, port and polish head. I would like to be running 16-20 psi with this set up, does anyone know if this can be done without touching the ecu? obviousely putting and aftermarket one in is a simple solution but very costly. If I run a boost controller will it be restricted from the ecu?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

What other mods do you have?

Fuel? What turbos did you buy?

Wow. Those are some big sized snails you have there. May I suggest you stop right now and have a serious think about this. Big turbo's mean more fuel, more air, more EVERYTHING! You will be unable to run it off the stock ecu. If you are really going to run those TD06's, you need to spend some money to do it properly.

What would you suggest in way of ecu replacement or piggyback ecu? I don't waqnt to spent 5K on an aftermarket ecu which I have been quoted - cheers

It really depends on how far you want to go. I bought a full stand alone ecu (Haltech E11) way back when when the car was close to stock. I knew that eventually I was going to upgrade big and I had the cash ($4000) which got me the ecu unit, wiring installed and tuning. Of course the Haltech is overkill for stock, but my God you notice the improvement and like I said, I was always planning to go big. I'm running GT2781R's which are rated at 400HP each. I wont suggest anything in the way of piggy backs as I don't know much.

Work out

-how much you plan on spending
-what you want the car for (track, drag, autoX, cruising)
-if you can have it off the road for weeks at a time for repairs
-how much power you would realistically like/want

These will give us a much better idea of what you'll be needing. TD06 turbo's are a big turbo, especially when you are running two of, so you need the gear to run them.
