Hey guys
I just recieved my regular lease payment of xxx.xx PLUS an extra 131.18 for the Property Tax on the bill.
What the hell is that?
Is it some kind of rip off?

It's perfectly normal. Property taxes are applicable to vehicles too (since they are property). They shouldn't exceed 1% of the original value of the car.

What irks me is that you are leasing the vehicle... why would you be paying property tax on something you don't plan on owning?

In my case, dealer ate the taxes. All tax fields said NA.
I was on the phone with MMCA today, and they faxed me over the tax bill from DMV of Cook County.
It says BILL TO: MMCS
not to me!

Why do I have to pay their taxes. I dont own the car yet. I'm buying it out in 1,5yrs.

Any advice? Should I report it somewhere? Try to fight it with MMCS? Or is it 'normal'?

That's probably why. They are getting you on the property tax now since you are going to buy the car in due time.

I'd still side with fullmetalpanic and fight it. If they're right, then you'd have to pay it regardless so you aren't losing on anything. If they're wrong, you just saved yourself some mucho denero... which is just enough for a custom Works AB exhaust!

Just make sure you keep tangible copies of EVERYTHING. People have their ways of getting helpless customers to pay twice for something they already paid!

i'm one of those people who keep track of everything, so all bills are organized.

they dont know if i will buy it out. it's a lease...i can drop out at the end or keep it. so that has nothing to do with it.
