Hey id really like some help with this evo im interested in buying.

Its done really low kms (42000) for a 1998 and im told that because its got a digital odometer its impossible to determine if its been wound back or not. And it doesnt help that it was imported from japan. It was imported damaged: had a bent lower radiator panel which was replaced and is sweet now. However it makes a clunking sound every time you accelerate from a stopped position- so possibly serious? im not really a car nut but enjoy fast cars that handel well (dont we all) so have looked into evo's. This car is a stunner on 18" mags and HKS coilover adjustables. Its got a full performance exhaust, Pod Filter, Digital Speedo,HKS EVC/Digital monitor, HKS FCON Computer. The car is about $25000NZD which is reasonable considering the low kms and mods.

Too good to be true <_< or have i found myself a score here :D ? HELP PLEASE!!!
any comments would be greatly appreciated

Is there any way i can minimise the risk that you guys know about? like any tell-tale signs or anything for an evo with low kms??

hey there
Pleased to hear you looking at evos :)
I have a sneaking thought that it might be an engine mount or gear box if it has had mods like that it has probly had its fair share of launches of the line it may
pay to get the drive chain checked before you buy i have had my 6 in the shop for 4 weeks now waiting for parts to arive from japan so its no fun having an evo if its not going.
happy buying

I know it's not the same car, but I had the same problem on my 91 talon and it turned out to be the lower control arm bushings flexing to much under stress combined with a worn rear engine mount. I swapped the mount for a new one and changed both control arm bushing and launch is really solid now. Maybe this helps?
