Today I pulled 525 miles out of my 08 Lancer ES. I commute 100 miles round trip daily..so you can see why speed isn't my concern. Rather, I baby the gas, and ALWAYS use cruise control. I go about 55-65 mph the whole time also. It averaged out to be a bit over 38 mpg (I calculated that after I filled up at the gas station, I didn't rely on the computer). I filled up with about 13.8 gallons after 525 miles.

Anyway..just a change of pace from all the "how fast can we make this 150 HP 4-banger go" threads.

Can anyone beat 525 miles with 13.8 gallons of fuel??? hmmmm.

Are you threatening me????? I am Cornhollio.......I need MPG's for my bunghole mobile!

I will accept your challenge!

I did 500 on 14 gals. But towards the end I got stuck in construction & did about 40 minutes of a bunch of stop & go which I know screwed up my overall. Otherwise I probably would have been right there with you.

See you in a few weeks.

How did I know you would respond to this one? I'm lucky if I get 20 MPG consistantly. :(

heh..except, this would be possibly the slowest race they've seen. It would be a race to see who could go 55 mph for the longest time, that would be a crowd pleaser!

I've topped out at 42.8 mpg.... (According to the dash unit) ... BUT it was a one-time-thing when I was driving very slow (50mph) on a late night on a two-lane highway with cruise and absolutely no stops and no A/C. It's a little excessive in my book, but I had heard about hypermilling in a Prius forum and thought I'd give it a shot on the Red Rocket <g> Otherwise, I have no problem averaging 31.5 city/highway whenever I fill up. I'm always looking to better it, though :) Do I hear hybrid?

Posted in another thread, but I had to do a repeat here.
But the good news......Old girl still rewards me with great MPG's. This is when I parked the car at work after driving for 37 miles. It was at 38.9mpg, but after a few stop lights & waiting....it dropped a little

This mileage you see in the picture was done by just turning on the car & driving it to work. No reset going down the expressway to "boost" mileager readouts or anything......this is what I get when I'm driving nice.

As far as temp. seeing over 40's....that can be done as well. On my way home from the dealership, I was getting over 40 as well.
I bet others can do it as well. You may have to reset the cars computer & let it relearn a new driving technique all over again.
Seeing my car is "geared" towards granny mode....I'll bet if I was to run one of you guys/gals on here in a side by side race....I'd prob. get my @$$ handed to me. My car rarely sees over 3ooorpm. Only every now & then do I hammer it...to blow it out. So......when it comes time to getting new plates...I was thinking this:
MPGKING ....kinda cool :57:

hehe... i have a heavy foot and i do 90% local driving in NEW YORK. Theres a light or stop every 100ft.

i get about 13.8 MPG daily . Beat that in terms of the lowest mpg ! (see what i did there)

i COULD use my brakes less and press the gas a little.. but my job requires me to fast a/furious grocery shop and delivery
