Hey guys im new to this forum. I just bought my 09 lancer yesterday. I had a few questions about hooking an ipod up. First off what is the easiest way to connect a ipod to the stereo? Also what is the connection on the bottom of the navi screen for? and last is there any way to load your music off your ipod into the music server? Thanks for all the help guys, im really excited about my new car but these are all things i havent been able to figure out yet.
Congrats on the new car and welcome to the forums!
First off, if you have the Navigation, I HIGHLY suggest you use the included audio ports located in the center console. There will be a little tab that says "Video" or "Audio" (depending on the model) and behind it you will find RCA inputs (Red, White and in some cases, Yellow...just like on a TV). Any RCA to 3.5mm Stereo wire will work perfectly. Wired connections provide the best possible sound when compared to wireless FM transmitters... plus you don't have to worry about signal interference from other people either. It's your car and your music, why should you listen to anybody elses?!?
The connection located on the bottom of the Navi screen is actually used to update the MMCS. It's a dealership only function as it requires a special "key" that is inserted into the Navi while your MMCS updates. It's nothing super, but I'm actually a bit curious to see exactly how much can be done through it.
Also, the only available way to load music onto the music server is with AUDIO CDs only. MP3 CD's will NOT work (we've all tried) and there is no way to connect a MP3 player to the MMCS to copy songs from. People are working on a way to remove the harddrive from the MMCS, connect it to a computer, and copy songs to the MMCS harddrive directly, but there's isn't a whole lot of progress on that yet... so don't hold your breath.
Lastly, please please please use the search function before posting anything. We don't want to discourage you from being an active member, but it's just that we see so many topics all discussing the same thing, it tends to become quite an eyesore.
