Those numbers, 4G15, 4G93T, etc etc. Refers to the engine block code/number.

The United States Lancer OZ, ES for 2003 and 2005 (as well as other years) a 4G94 engine. The US Lancer Evolution VIII uses the 4G93T (T for turbo) engine.

Hope that helps.

i'm confused... i thought that 4g63T is the 2.0l turbo in the evo and 4g93T is the 1.8l turbo from the gsr?

edit: is the US-spec evo a 1.8?

The US Evo has a 2.0L engine, not a 1.8

Main topic first: Theoretically, it should work. A 4G93T should fit in the 4G15's tranny in light of the theory that all 4Gxx engines can share the same transmission. I've seen a 4G92 MIVEC fit into a RWD tranny that was once connected to a 4G32B. FYI, the 4G18 (1.6L) and the 4G93 (1.8L) share the same CVT tranny here in the Philippines.

Now the off-topic: The US-spec Evo, be VIII or IX, uses the 4G63T (2.0L turbo). Correct me if I'm wrong, but all Evo's use the 4G63T.

yeah i believe that to be correct; all evos run the 4g63.. however, the evo 9 has a mivec system also...
i think their "206kW" is more of a namesake now than actual output... you cant really say that the mivec does nothing...

ALL Evolutions carry the 4G63T engine - JDM, SDM, USDM, UK - ALL

it is one of he fundamentals of the Evolution platform

on the theory that all 4GXX engines can share the same tranny - I will not go so far without stating the constraints

the tranny may be compatible, but it may not be the best suited

they may not all handle the same power from the engine

now to address my fellow countryman's question

yes the 4G93 will fit well on the tranny, but if you plan on using that engine to even 75% of its potential, you're gonna have some tranny probs

and for the tiptronic on the 4G15 - what model tranny is it?

I have a 4G15 myself

look me up on trinituner.com dude, same screen name

Example...4G15 and 4G63T from the Evo...BIG power difference.

The 4G63 has never really evolved until the Evo IX gets the Mivec...it's been the same BASIC engine block and heads. That's what it has been known for, THE turbo engine in performance Mitsus, for the most part.

Dean,i drive a Proton Wira/persona with a 4G15 ...ive just transplanted a 4G93T in and dumped the shity 4g15 out  all mountings fit perfectly without a single mod...as for bodykits go,i went for the lancer GSR bodykit....

the Wira/Persona's is based on the Mitsu lancer Evo I chassis,so the evo3 bodykit will fit nicely . anything up to the Evo 3 is practically a bolt on job .

hope that helps...

Dean

the 4g93 will ine up bolt for bolt in the proton once it is not the 4g93 GDI

the 4g93 GDI carries different mounts from the 4g15

in fact the GDI version of the 4gXX engines vary considerably from their equivalent non-GDI counterparts

check out www.4gtuners.com

those guys really know their Protons,

the transplant that you are asking about has been done several times in Malaysia, so the 4gtuner guys will be better able to give you Proton specific advice
