I have 39,000 miles on my 2005 Limited and would like to give feeback to the readers of this forum.. I am a Mitsubishi Lover!! I have owned a 1999 Galant, 1997 Montero Sport, and now own a 2001 Galant ES, 2002 Diamonte LS and a 2005 Endeavor Limited AWD. Well my experience appears to point to the fact that vehicles made in Normal Ill (Galant and Endeavor) are not the same build/engineered quality as the Aussi and Japan made(Lancer, Outlander, Montero and Montero Sport). Read on..
I have had great reliability with all of them!! I don't reccomend any Mits if you are the type of person that likes a new car every 3 or 4 years as they do not hold their value. If you grab one used like many folks on this forum you are very wise - you have purchased a relaible great value.
Now for the bad news... My Endeavor has me sadly looking in to other brands because of some issues that have not been experienced in my other Mitsubishi cars. Let me preface my comments by stating that this vehicle is my wifes and she drived very conservatively.
Here we go.... The road and air noise in thie vehicle is LOUD.. I have just changed the OEM Bridgestones with Yokahamas' that have made a great improvement but still the wind noise and road noise especially on cement pavement is unacceptable for a vehicle with a sticker price of $34,000. There is also a wierd rumble from 58-65 miles per hour. It has always has this slight rumble - but mix that with the road noise and the engine noise that is a low roar and you have a vehicle that is far from the comfort of my proir SUV(Montero Sport which is built in Japan on a Truck frame!) - Unfortunately, the Montero Sport is discontinued. And don't attempt to open the sunroof all the way as a wierd wind pulsing soud deafens you.. In contrast, my Diamonte is silent and impeccable in qualtiy of build and engineering and switching back and forth between the two there is no comparison (yes, this model was discontinued also). Moving on... The carpet quality in the Endeavor is a real dissapointment especially in the cargo area. Moving on.. I did replease the headlight bulbs because there were times normally when the road was wet at night that they did not illuminate anything - I am glad I had the driving lights. My driver seat squeeks, lightly press on the rear bumper, side door panels and they creek. Some of the creeks are starting to creek on their own...
Anyway, I normally do not like to be negative but my other cars that were built in other Mitsubishi plants not Normal Ill appear to be far superior. I guess I am a car buff and hard to please - I like to keep my vehicles in pristine condition and become disappointed that I have no other non-compact SUV options from MItsubishi anymore - even the Montero is gone in the USA. I was hopefull that the redesigned Endeavor would be more like the Murano or the Mazda CX-9 in build qualty and appearance but I had just read that the dealers were recently shown the concpet art for the redesigned Endeavor and they were very, very dissapointed.
I know this is my first post and is a bit negative but I am being candid with all the readers and I hope a few engineers from Normal read this post..
