I've done my research on this forum with related topics and none of the provided solutions seem to help my car.

I have an Eclipse GTS 2004. I recently bought all new tires and had my front end aligned when I recently replaced my front control arm. My steering wheel has always vibrated/shaked when I did 70mph+ but my mechanic said it should improve with the alignment and new control arm. It didn't improve so I took it back the next day. He drove it and noticed it still vibrated so he balanced my tires. Then he noticed one of my rims was a little dinged - which he said probably happened when I parked too close to a curb. He said the vibrating could be from the slightly dinged/curved rim. The vibrating improved after he balanced my tires, but its still present.

I'm going back to the mechanic to to get my 60K maintenance done and I'm going to mention it again. Is there anything else that could be causing my steering wheel to be shaking? It also only vibrates/shakes when I'm going above 70mph not during normal city driving.

I've noticed someone suggested changing the rotors or the tie rod (the component that connects the tire to the steering wheel)?

First check the ball joints. If it was warped rotors it would shake bad when braking. Also have them check the calipers. A stuck, or sticking caliper will heat up the rotor and cause a vibration. More food for thought, i needed my wheels balanced a couple times to prevent the shaking. We ended up using the sticker weights on the inner part of the wheel. That was the cure.

sorry to sound so stupid with this but i have the same problem. exit ramps on the interstate just about kill me from the vibrations, but it never vibrates when excelerating. what should i tell the mechanic to do because the only guy around here who even knows what he's doing will only fix something when he's told exactly what you want him to do.

Loop exit ramps? So it vibrated when fast cornering?

On exit ramps it's probably a warped rotor if it's when you're braking. Rotors are easy to do, just go get some from your local auto parts store and do them yourself if that's what it is.

so, what was the problem?

the rotors were warped, had a car mechanic friend help me out free of charge

Can be as easy as:ball joint/alignment,mounts going bad(prothane insert is what i did)etc. so just make sure you dont get taken for a ride.
