http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123702363

That's how to install it on a Mazda 3, which I don't believe comes turbo. So it should be straight forward, but I only quickly scanned the write up.

Can i ask, why? IMO, a turbo timer is borderline useless on a turbo car nevermind a n/a car.

what are you talking about their useless, they are an easier way of cooling down than having to sit in your car for at least a couple of min.

You drag/auto-x your 96 GS? The non existant turbo gets that hot? I'm lost.

Well you have a GS, meaning non turbo.... Why would you need a TURBO timer if you do not have a TURBO model?

And if you did an engine swap to the 4g63t or turboed your 420a, you still don't need one. On the stock setups you don't need one.

I know a guy running a Garrett t3/04 at 12psi on a 2000 Civic SI. He is around 275whp with all the rest of his mods, and he still does not use a turbo timer. He will drive is car boosting all day, come home, and just turn it off as soon as he gets in the driveway. No harm done in over 68k miles of driving it.

75% of turbos on the market use oil to lubricate and cool and engine coolant to cool.

Turbo timers were designed to be used on huge turbos which don't have these coolant lines hooked up because Oil can not dissipate heat even remotely fast enough.

I can dig out some books tonight and post some screen shots of heat dispersion between coolant and oil.

People fear that coking will occur if they just turn their car off. with the coolant cooled turbos you need about 3 - 5 seconds of idle before you shut off to prevent this. Will you benefit from longer cool down periods? Yes. By much, not so much.

Its not hard to idle a car for 5 seconds after you get somewhere. Find cell phone wallet, unbuckle turn car off.

Turbo timers on anything with water (coolant) cooled turbos = another reason to have your car broken into.
