QUOTE(MisterStrike @ Jul 3 2008, 06:44 AM) I had it on for about 2000 miles or so. I think one of the clamps failed because when I took the one off that connects the hose to the main pipe where the MAFS sits I only had to twist the screwdriver 3 times and the whole clamp opened up completely. I am going to take it to Mitsu and let them check the error code and if all is good I will keep it stock for a couple of weeks and then slap it back on with some new clamps and give it go. But then again I may just sell it. You mentioned that the clamp that connects the hose to the main pipe came off with 3 twists on your screwdriver. This is actually normal... All the clamps are the same size and the tubing where that clamp sits has the widest circumference. It's a bit of a stretch, but it will sit... and come off very easily. One mistake my friend made was that the black silicon tubing that connected to the main pipe (which goes to the throttle body) was too far in. The main pipe has a lip at the end near the MAF sensor and the black tubing shouldn't go too far beyond that. I still have issues with my filter touching my CVT cooler, but I check the filter often and I don't see any frays or melting spots on my hydroshield, so everything seems OK. Do you have any pictures with the CAI still in? I'd like to take a closer look.

QUOTE(freakingwilly @ Jul 3 2008, 06:30 PM) Oh come now, it can't be that bad! It's probably just a hose leak or something. Here's a look at mine when my friend helped me... (IMG:http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i289/willyspace/Lancer/th_IMG_5152.jpg) Notice how close the black hose gets to the MAF sensor mount? Here's another shot from Injen on what it really should look like... (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/v10power/th_Installed_Web.jpg) Notice the difference? Yeah...I noticed the difference....your car turned Silver :bwekk:

How were you able to tighten the clamps for the throttle body? That's a really awkward position for them. There may have been a slight air leak there and with enough vibration, the seal might have become a little loose, allowing more air in. Plus, since the possible leak is AFTER the MAF sensor, the engine won't compensate properly. This is all speculation though. It's not a 100% right answer. QUOTE(MisterStrike @ Jul 5 2008, 08:09 AM) I used a screwdriver to get them on and off. They were kind of a pain to get off so I don't know if that would have been the cause of not but it could have been. I have driven it for the past couple of days and so far had no problems so I am thinking of ripping off the bumper and putting it back on. Well, I put them on with the screw pointing forward towards the battery a bit. This allowed me to stick the screwdriver in between the plug for the AT fluid and securely tighten the screw. I've had mine on for about a month and a half and I have no problems whatsoever. I check on the hydroshield every so often, but that's about it. If you have no quarrels with ripping off the bumper again, I say go for it. You paid $300 for the intake... USE IT!
