i hate the CVT's low shift points (2000 rpm) when im on the interstate going 60 and i decide i want to speed up i get no power becuase im in 6th gear at around 2200 rpm and i have to switch to manual downshift then shift back up again to get power. does anyone know how to raise the shift points up a few rpms?

For one thing, a CVT doesn't actually "Shift," it just simulates shifting of gears. Second, it is possible but I think that requires the reflashing of both Main ECU and CVT ECU.

By the way, you know putting CVT on Drive while on Highways actually saves you more gas  It does really :)

shift points are fine, in what car has the 6 gear ever been optimized for power. Especially in a Economy Car like our own.
Its that low for a reason, if not then it would be like the 5speed manual with a super high and loud rev at high speeds.

Raising the shift point as you mentioned will increase your fuel consumption. if you wish to overtake and pass someone switch to the proper gear.

Reprogramming can and has already been done, but I think it will take a while for that to come to the retail market as a CVT override controller for doing shifts on the fly, or a prem. reflash of the gear ratio changes

Isn't the speed limit 65? Do you really need the extra oomph for 5mph? I'm just sayin...

If you really wanted the power, then you should have gotten the ES with a full automatic transmission... or a stick.

It really isn't that hard to swipe it over to sport-tronic and downshift. Heck, you can leave it in Drive and just use the paddleshifters and drop it down from there. Once you've gotten where you need to be, hold the upshift (+) and it will reset back to Drive.

Tada! ;)

umm...

leave the car in "drive". Step on the accelerator. The car will rev to its max powerpoint and stay there.

the end.

the "virtual" gears they put into the software are silly gimmicks for the most part. the car will be faster and get better mileage if you leave it in drive.
