i bought two small LED's to light up the area where the controls are on the door for windows and such, since there was none. I wired into the battery, therefore, its running 24/7 would that be a problem or should i wire it through a switch, thank you. in addition was watt or volt switch i bought one and had issues. thanks

You really shouldn't run anything directly off your battery. Are they strips or just two lights? either way it would take them a long time to drain your battery if they were left on 24/7. A switch is going to make it look neater in your car and enable you to turn them on and off, I would really find some other way of powering them...
They didn't come with their own power source like hooking into the cig lighter? Any anyway don't your window buttons light up. I think its just the driver's window that does now that I think about it....

they are just two very small individual lights. they didnt come with a power source, just the wire. WHat i did was take the the door off both sides, and fit it into the area on top of the window buttons. u see the wire wen u open the door, since i ran it inside into the engine bay where i connected it to the battery. I bought a switch but it was sparking when hooked it up, maybe it was to powerful. is there another way to power them?

Yeah you can run it to the fuse box, just link it to anyone that is only on when the car is on. Like the cig lighter fuse. That would run power, they make a piece that you can buy at autozone. Its called a fusetap, that should work for you. Then you wouldn't need a switch b/c they will come on when you turn on the ignition.
If you want it to only come on at night you could hook it up to your lilghts fuse, then when you turn on the lights they would also come on.

You should go one step further and hook the supply up to your head lights signal...therefore turning the light on only when your head lights are switched on (like the illumination on the dash) as it would generally indicate that it is dark.
