I was just wondering whether there was any way to tell from just looking at one if it was a gst of a gsx. There's one for sale near me, its a late model, 97-99, but its not badged, so I can't tell.

Look up under it. Look for the rear drive shaft. Also I think that the rotors are bigger.

Stop and ask. If you think it is a gst or a gsx then look for the drive shaft going to the rear. If you are wondering how to tell if it is a gst or a gsx from the other trims and your not sure look up under the front and see if the engine is the same orientation as your gs if it is backwards from yours it is one or the other.

According to wikipedia, the only exterior difference is the rim size that came stock. the GST's came with 16" alloys, where as the GSX's came with 17" wheels.

So, if its bone stock, then that's one way to tell. But as stated earlier, the only way to tell from looking is to look under it.

They were all set up perpendicular and designed for FWD. they then put some magic together and threw a driveshaft and rear diff and it was AWD.

Get the VIN run a carfax.

Look under it for before mentioned AWD components.

Drive it and it breaks loose in first its not.

Transverse is the eclipse orientation. Longitudinal is normal rear wheel drive orientation.

Look at the front, Dude the GST has a vent on the passenger side down toward the extreme bottom in the little triangle holes last I checked, the GS/RS does not have any vent on the front whatsoever.
