okay the turbo i have is the stock turbo off of a gst i found out. i am having some clearance issues and i was wondering if i have to scrap my turbo and ext wastegate what other kinds of turbos bold directly up to a gst. this includes oil lines and coolant lines if applicable to the turbo. i have everything to match up to a stock gst turbo including the flange, downpipe, oil lines, and coolant lines. soo far if i understand this correctly a 16g will match up and i think the stock gst is a 14b(correct me if i am wrong so i dont sound like an ***** ) i also wasnt sure if all the oil and coolant lines are the same size fittings for most aftermarkets making turbos interchangable. never worked with turbos so please give me the run down. thanks :57:

also has anyone heard of replacing the fans in rs and gs cars to free up some clearence. my 95 rs is getting packed and if there is an aftermarket fan that could fit and is smaller it would be helpful.

Are you piecing together a turbo kit? You can't use the stock exhaust mani from a gs-t. The 14b is the stock turbo from a 5 speed 1st generation dsm.

you have to know what flange is on the manifold. that will determine which turbos you can use.

cast manifold off of ebay for a 420a. every mani on ebay thats a cast looks exactly like mine. the one i bought said its flange was for a 16g which i what i was told my turbo was until later when i was researching and found out i was tricked. i know the bolt pattern is completly different and the runners in no way come close to lining up. i have all the parts to my turbo kit. it just sucks cause my hood is getting in the way. i need to cut a hole in my hood to use my external wastegate which i think that would be silly lol :P

So your "16g" really is not a 16g or your manifold really does not support a 16g? how mnay bolts are on the turbo flange on your manifold?

Then you will only be able to use MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) turbos, such as the 14b, 16g, t-28, etc...

from what i've gathered and from when we spoke in jax this is just a fun project and not really a serious build. pretty much just for experience right? to see what you can do on your own.

or did i completely miss something?
