Hi all,

I am looking at replacing the OEM six stacker CD & radio with an Infill G4 (double din unit).

Has anyone attempted this before, or does anyone have a guide on removing the original unit please?

Any feedback or pointers would bemost appreciated.

This should be an easy switch. Just a few screws and a little bit of wiring. you should be able to get an adaptor that goes from you factory wiring to the new stereo wiring(saves some hassle). not sure if it is the same there but pioneer has wiring harnesses that go direct from the stereo to the cars factory wiring.

Hey all,

I've managed to work it out. Rather stright forward actually, though it seemed daunting at first.

For anyone reading this with the same headache as I did, following is a quick guide.

1. Take coin-box out (press lid to open, then lift out by lid)
2. Pullup hand-brake hard
3. Place auto (tranny) into Drive
4. Grab both sides of the console (wood grain top) from inside the hole left by the coin box and gently pull up. This should dis-lodge the clips at the back.
5. Grabconsole cover again (woodgrain) and gently pull up all the way to the accessory box - dislodging all clips-
6. The unit should pull free and out - in some instances the accessory box will come with it as the clips holding the two together are quite tight
7. With the console cover removed, open the accessory box, hold from underneath and inside top part andgently pull toward you if it does not budge apply slight rocking motion and pull harder but gently - this should dislodge clips and pull it free as well.
8. Holding both sidess of the bottom section of the audio/air fascia (woodgrain) gently pull forward - there are two lagre clips holding it in - both located below the hazard switch and air temp meter
Once un-clipped gently pull top section forward by pressing down on flat section under the clock - using friction to pull forward - and holding the lower section. Note that the vents may unclip in the middle from the fascia
9. Once the unit pulls free unclip wires in the following order: Hazartd switch (1 plug) climate control (2 plugs) and lastly the air temp sensor (1 plug)
10. Be very gently with the hose and attachedwire when removing plug from fascia
11. Inspect the vents in the freshly removed woodgrain fascia andmake sure they are sitting properly clipped in - they have a tendency to unclip in the middle -. If doesnotlook right, re-seat before moving forward so you don't forget
12. Inspect the 2 large clips of the woodgrain fascia and ensure the steel clasps are on them, if they have pulled off and are in the steel frame, remove from the frame and clip back on the fascia- make sure they sit nice and snug and flat - make sure this is done prior moving forward so you don't forget.
13. The four screws holding the audio system bracket should be nice and visible now. Remove all four screws - two on top, two on bottom
14. Before removing the radio have a good look inside and make a note of where all the cables are routed inc. the hose
15. Pull the cage forward and once sufficientlyenough out, unclip the steering controls plug, main speakers/power plug and aerial plug.
16. Pull cage away

Installation is the revers of the above process. Removal should not take more than 10-15 minutes. Installation will take a good 30 minutes as the fascia can be a little fiddly.

Good luck.

PS> You are doing it at your own risk though, and will not except any responsibility for any damages, etc that may be caused in the process.

Thanks for posting yur steps . Altho all people do not have the same head unit and a/c head control setup. Is yur a/c head unit manual or full digital control , and with or without navigation. I had posted up how to remove the head unit and radiao panels for 1996.5-2004 Magna's/Diamante and most Verada a while back with the 3 diffrent a/c and radio head units a while back, a good whiles back tho.
