check to make sure the thermatic cooling fans are operating

they work off a thermatic switch
either at the base of the radiator
or the inlet manifold

most fans come on well before the halfway mark
on the temperature guage

check how old the radiator cap is
also check all the coolant hoses are in good condition

The cooling fan fuses and relay are under the hood. Standing in front there are cooling fan relay and fuse on the right panel near the PS resevior , there is also a maxi fuse for the fans in the left underhood fuse panel also.

I swapped 12 v relay and the rad fan did not come on.
30 amp fuses seem o.k.
Should I replace the thermostat?
I was thinking of buying a voltmeter but not to sure how to go about testing it on the fan.
Cranking up heat in hot summer to bring temperature down cooking alive in my car.
Thanks.
