yea im going to take it slow. 8psi on the stock 420a should put it at around 200hp right? and with a turbo exhaust underdrive pully should put it at around the 215hp mark right? if so thats plenty for me for a little while seeing as how im only 17. i dont need all that power cuz ill just do stupid stuff and wreck or get a million tickets.

I would minus some of that horsepower, remember the tunning. The car in actuality has 117HP .Get a turbo kit, install it ,get it tuned by a pro. Then learn how to take care of the turbo, cooling and such.

When I was 17 I had a skateboard. :P

Honestly its expensive overall some more than others. This is not a quick car stock, 117hp at the wheels or wheel is killing me.
Be carefull, please read the pinned section on first time owners.
There is so much material you should cover.

Cant answer your questions on HP after turbo, havent got there yet.
Still researching the tunning part too.

the main reason i want this car is cuz i can afford it. its really the only car i found that i can afford to buy and i can upgrade it a decent amount. if you know of any other cars you think i could find for under $1500 cuz i found quit a few gs eclipses for under that. and i dont really want to spend much over that. so if you can give me some advise on some other cars id really appreciate it. so that way i dont buy a gs and realize i made a mistake. thanks

Dude its a nice ride, handling blew me away, just check the basics before you get it. Drive it around hard. Check what they have done to take care of it,these cars came from the factory with recall parts up the butt.Once you replace them your good to go. (headgasket, lower ball joints etc.)Youll find all this stuff on this forum.

Cant give you advice on other cars or else I wouldnt be called MitzPwer

But you can check out those old Galants, they haul ****.
Check out the 1G eclipse GS you can find one somewhere

No problem,Its hit or miss just like any other car but these GS/RS 2g need more attention. Think about it, its been more than 10 years since they came out.

big turbo with lots of boost, cam, etc. somewhere around 350-450hp

you don't need "lots of boost" or cams to make 350whp. The only things you need to make your engine strong enough are eagle rods and JE or wiseco pistons.

+1 with Rob howellautomotive is where I got my 420a guts.

the stock head, cams, intake manifold, and throttle body will flow enough for 400hp. just make sure you have enough fuel

Theres no reason to ever try to build a gs or an rs for more than 350hp. You`re gonna be spinning tires all day long. By the way to actually build a non turbo eclipse to have that much power costs a whole lot of money to get it done right so look into the expenses you`re gonna have before you go making any rash decisions.

the eclipse will do just fine, you have to understand that 350hp isn't just a "mild" upgrade from stock. if you were to drive a 300hp eclipse it would be fun. He!l a 250hp eclipse is fun. basically, you don't need 350hp to enjoy your car.

if you like the handling then you would be more suited for a roadcourse car. Evo's and STI's (cars that are built for racing) don't even come with 350hp. But they are still fun.

not for very long if you drive it hard, but I think you would be impressed by what 220hp feels like and it would last longer.
