All depends on the condition of the motor, its probably a good idea to rebuild it. Maintenance before mods. Like said above, its a 420a, it will handle 8psi max on stock internals. You can make around 200bhp with a decent kit. What kind of power do you want out of it?

+1 on the compression test, and +1 on the maintenance before mods.

Also, give this a quick read.

Get to know your car, its gets very expensive on mistakes. ECU programming is key for tunning.I know guys who turbo 420a and they run slow.

Im still researching for my turbo, these guys on this forum are so knowledgable.

ECU programming is key for tunning.

the best options are megasquirt, AFC, or emanage. These units are adjustable, reflashing the ECU is a permanent adjustment that can't be changed without re-reflashing

alright thanks guys, thats what i was thinking, so i should rebuild the engine before i turbo it...i saw somewhere that its 450 for an OEM rebuild kit? how hard is this, i have rebuilt engines before in tech (car engines) but i also have a friend who is willing to help me, is this a hard process?

You should do a compression test first... You might not need to rebuild.

if you are considering a rebuilt you need to figure out how much power you want to make first. anything over 250hp you should do a performance rebuilt with better rods and pistons.

if you just want a fun little buggy then you would be ok with the OEM rebuild

+1 with everyone else on the compression test though

Ok your done. I am revoking your posting privileges until you read these links.

Pwee and Myself didn't type this to make ourselves feel better, its there for YOU ****ing read it.

After you read that, (you don't have to understand it you just need to read it.) Then you need to realize that when you post a question it is NOT going to be answered in the next 10 minutes. We don't get paid to be on here and answer your questions, I work close to 80 hours a week and run three stores. Others are full time students and others actually have real jobs. Chill out, calm down and realize that if you need a question answered immediately you can read the link above click on the link there that will bring you face to face with about thirteen shops that you call to have a question answered.
