Today on acceleration, the car, a 2001 3.2 Di-D, holds back.

It was occasionally doing it when the car was cold, but today a warm engine.

If i floor it, black smoke imits from the zorst!

The engine management light then came on, so I stopped the car, turned it off then after about 5 mins restarted and drove off. engine managment light stayed off. Car had full power again and not smokin.

Idea's?

Not long had a service, so new filters etc.

Cheers in advice for any clues.

Possible vacume leak or loose wire which engages the turbo? Smoke would be overfueling as the turbo should be boosting but for some reason it didn't is my guess.

EGR valve all sooted up.

Took it in to dealer this am, so they could hopefully read error code, and problem diagnosed before id finished my coffee.

So new one to be fitted next week. :-(

That will do it. We don't have the EGR systems here as you do in the US. Have read about a number of owners with similiar EGR problems. Glad you got sorted.
