In this forum there is a link for manuals on transaxle removal which I have downloaded before for my daughters 2001 GT Eclipse. The pdf.file names of the manuals were 22a and 22b. I replaced the clutch myself but the real problem was the transaxle itself. So, I had to do the process twice. I was a ****. If you clutch assembly is anything like my 2001 then there is a special method used to disengauge the throwout bearing from the clutch plate. Don't just start prying and pulling because you will get screwed. You need to press the throwout bearing up to the clutch plate with a prybar/screwdriver "and then" Slip a screwdrive bewteen the throwout bearing and a tin ring that is attached to the cluchplate then twist the screwdriver to get the bearing to release. Also, you must drop the cross member under the firewall that is holding all front end components(spindles, aframes, etc.) before you can remove the transaxle.

I hope this helps.

Unless you know WTF you're doing - this is not a DIY project.

Working on my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT -- 3.0 liter, V6, 5 spd manual trans --
* Replacing the clutch --
* But am unable to remove the transaxle,
* As the throwout- (release)- bearing will not release when following
the "screwdriver twist" step.
* Seems the release lever is jammed, and not moving into the correct position.
=======
I'd appreciate any suggestions ... the more specific, the better! Thanks
