Hi people! I have a 1996 Carisma 1.6 GL Auto with 82,000 miles on the clock. The car seems to like drinking fuel, returning about 20 miles per gallon! I have checked the air filter and it seems clean enough, there are no obvious fuel leaks although I can sometimes smell petrol in hot weather? The fuel guage warning lamp comes on and off intermittently too! The engine runs fine with no misfires or any other signs of trouble. I'm just baffled as to why it uses so much fuel? Can anyone help, please? I have now changed the air filter and reset the ECU, to no avail!! It's still drinking the juice.
