This issue started about a month or so ago. My '03 Galant ES sputters the when I hit the gas, and stuggles to gain speed. I been to this jack leg machanic whom told me that he needed to change both coil packets @ the wonderful price of 127.98 per.. 4 plugs and wires totaling up to $390. So, i whent to a local Mitsubishi repair shop and he told me then he has never and to replace 2 coil packets, tell me that if that was case the car would not even start, and that one one needs to be replaced and then are at the most of 80.

Can any body tell what's wrong with my car?

Is there a check engine light? Usually when one of the coils goes bad the ECU will pick it up . It usually will set off a check engine light in most cases when the coil is bad and give an engine misfire code for the cylinder as in 1 and 2 or 1 cylinder or a code for the coil etc. Hope it gets sorted , but yes at most one coil may be the issue , and causing a random miss between the 2 cylinders it controls

yes the "service engine soon" light is on.

If yu posibly can , get the code checked out , it is most likely for one of the 2 ignition coils.They arent hard to replace at all either. Hope yur issue gets sorted. Yur local parts house may be able to reaad the code for yu for free.
