Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums (already gone onto the forums to say hi... and I've said hi... so hi =)) Ummm... Anyway... I've got two questions about my 93 GTO. There are two buttons - a green switch type thing and a LED kinda light switch thing beside the switch button things that change the position of my side mirrors. Know what I'm talking about? Well... I've briefly tried just 'seeing what they do' but no luck. And I don't want toggle them too much or leave them on (or off) for too long, because I REALLY don't want to stuff it up lol. But mmmmm.... the previous owner didn't know what they do either. Any ideas? And the next thing: Is there anyway to turn off 4 wheel drive and only have it 2 wheel drive. My parent's Ford Escape can do that, but that is a large vechile, a GTO being a sports car might not be able to. But if it can... how could I do it? It uses a lot of petrol and on $8.25 an hour I really can't afford it when the prices are only getting higher... so if I can save petrol by 2 wheel drive then that would be great! Cheers if your able to help! I feel like such an ***** asking questions like this! But I've wanted to know for quite a while now! Thanks everyone! EDITThe first question has been answered - thanks. As for my second question I'm still unsure. Here is a picture of the buttons I'm talking about - just the green and orange ones. (IMG: http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r403/Volathor/Image001.jpg)

I can be serious because I'm only 15 and I have only just recently got into learning about cars.... but now I know =) So thanks - and cheers for a prompt answer.

QUOTE(Volathor @ Jul 12 2008, 09:57 PM) I've got two questions about my 93 GTO. There are two buttons - a green switch type thing and a LED kinda light switch thing beside the switch button things that change the position of my side mirrors. Know what I'm talking about? Firstly welcome. I can't believe you are 15 with a GTO. Please be careful. Ok: The first part of your console in that area below your stereo is the Active Aero. It will adjust your rear wing. More to the point, when you turn it on, the wing lifts to the UP position. It's been a while since I had mine removed, but I believe it's set at 80 km/h before it lifts up??? The second part is the direction button for your mirrors. The button above that lets you choose which mirror you will manouver. The next button folds your mirrors in and out. The next button or the far right button is your cruise control. QUOTE(Volathor @ Jul 12 2008, 09:57 PM) And the next thing: Is there anyway to turn off 4 wheel drive and only have it 2 wheel drive. My parent's Ford Escape can do that, but that is a large vechile, a GTO being a sports car might not be able to. But if it can... how could I do it? No. The GTO is NOT like the Skylines or WRX's where you can just disengage the drive train or remove a fuse. You are stuck with AWD 24/7. QUOTE(Volathor @ Jul 12 2008, 09:57 PM) Cheers if your able to help! I feel like such an ***** asking questions like this! But I've wanted to know for quite a while now! Thanks everyone! Don't feel that you are asking silly questions. You are quite young and we have some smart people here. Some can be kinda blunt. Just remember, the questions you will ask have more than likely already been asked quite a few times before. ;) Please do us a favour tho, your descriptions need serious work. A thiny next to a button thingy is really not helping. Perhaps you can take a pic for us and show us. It's much more helpful. Scotty

Thanks everyone! lol so why did u buy a GTO/3000gt?? hahaah did no one tell you they use heaps of gas easy way to save gave is adjust your driving style to keep the revs low, and make the car as light as you can by taking out things you dont need eg i only drive my GTO once a month or so, so all my seats and spacer are out  might not save that much gas but it helps and change fuel filter regularilty...... .....pretty much just look after the car and engine, servicings, making it run smoother smoother = less gas usage im sure with the latest gas price increases you can find a million ways to save gas so it all comes down to how much going-fast and overtaking means to you sounds like you need a better job or just dont use your car so much hah :gunsmilie: PS personally i think you're way too young to own a GTO/3000GT - i was 19 when i got mine and even with 3 years driving experience in 4+ cars i had trouble adjusting nothing personal towards you

I did know that GTOs don't have good fuel economy but yeah, when I knew this petrol was about 1.75 a litre. Now where i live it's $2.26. I rarely overtake, and never go over the speed limit but my fix is when I rev it up in low gears to a high speed (eg. 2nd gear to 50kms - does about 5000revs per/m - sometimes 1st gear to 50kms - red lines)... and I need that for my fix =) Sounds AWESOME!! Lol Most people do think I am way to young to own a GTO. Depends what reasons your looking at. I've already owned a car, a 1.5L Mazda Presso. Did me well on my learners =) And adjusting from that to my GTO was hard, but now my GTO is just another car really. (Apparently I've heard) GTOs don't have as good acceleration as cars on par with it. I don't know if this is true, I believe it certinally has enough power but yeah. So mmm... it's my daily driving car so I'm used to driving it - and I'm not going to be stupid or anything in it =) It attracts the girls too =) If only I was on my full license... (on my restricted now)... Yep - well thanks for that. I'll try a few of those things... =)

Indeed - people SHOULD BE CONCERNED. But one fact people don't take into consideration, I'm on **** all money and I paid for my car myself (even if I was on more and I didn't pay for my GTO myself) WHY the hell would I risk losing it? (either crashing, being impounded etc). And doing burnouts and stuff... my tires cost $250+ each... so I'll pass on that =) Good tires though. People are worried for good reason. Teenager/adults brains don't develop properally until they are 21/22 to have the ability to make quick important decisions in the likes of in a car. But I am a safe driver, so being in a GTO wont make a difference to the likelyhood of me having a crash or anything. One of my mates at work was telling me... he raced his mate with a GTO - my mate has a 2L, 4 cylinder Nissan something, both non-turbo... well both N/A and anyway, to around 100kms my mate said he was winning. But I don't know, if it is true, or untrue my GTO still accelerates fast and at a good speed that I can handle. As I said, I'm only 15 so I don't really have a lot of 'stuff' I need to pay for, having a GTO is worth it for me - all though it's holidays at the moment and I've used over $100 petrol this week lol.. and I only earn like $84 now I think... mmmmmm..... I'm going to be 16 in September - minimum wage is $12 after working 3 months - before that I will be on $9.60. Then wooo!! I'll be able to save again! I had to replace my cambelt which I dedicated $500 for.... $1500 later.... then I still have to pay for my insurance (my parents paid for it, but now I owe them that..) $900.... I only owe $400 more on my cambelt then my insurance then I'll be all paid up lol!!! If it wasn't for costs I wasn't expecting I would have lots of money right now!! Ahh well.. SOON! Hey cool - I've only seen a UK GTO owners group thing on the internet. So I'll look that up! Cheers
