I recently bought a 2001 Carisma 1.8 GDI which had the throttle body repaired back at the end of May this year. However, the rev's were high and it was idling at around 1400 and when changing gear the rev's would go up to around 2500 and the engine was revving 'like I had put my foot on the accelerator when changing gear'.
So, my step dad had a look at it and said just to turn down the throttle, which he did but as a consequence the engine had lost nearly all it's power and the engine management light was flashing. He tried to turn the throttle back up but it's up full and not made a difference, the managemnt light flashing.
So we disconnected the battery to get the management light off which it did for about 5 mins but the car's rev's were up and down like a yo yo and eventually the management light came back on and the power has gone again on 'limp mode'.
Should I contact the garage that the throttle body was repaired by?
Is there something we can do to get the rev's even enough temporarily? to stop it going into get me home mode?
