Hey guys, I'm thinking of installing HID lights in my 09 Lancer, its brand new so I don't want to screw around with the warranty, I was wondering if installing the lights would void my warranty in any way???

If something goes wrong with the car and you need to have it serviced, normally the warranty protects you and you don't have to pay for the repairs. However, if the aftermarket mod you did is the cause for the problem, then your warranty will become null and void and you will have to pay for the repair costs.

You also have to understand that the place doing the warranty work needs to prove IN WRITING that the mod you did is the direct cause for the issue. If you have a cold air intake and your engine gets water in the throttle body and becomes waterlocked, then yes your warranty will be void. If you have an aftermarket exhaust and your windows stop working, then you're ok because the exhaust couldn't possibly be the cause for your windows to malfunction.

They can try to blame the HIDs for any electrical problems, but you can always remove them and take the car back as stock and say you did nothing to the car.
