MobileHID.com has the best HID kits I have ever purchased. I swapped both of my low beams and my fog lights with 5000K kits from them. They're durable and super high quality. Plus, all kits come with a special wiring harness so that the HID kits are powered directly from your battery, rather than your stock electrical system. The reason being... Xenon gas requires a single charge of 25,000 volts to ignite. Pulling this strong of a current on your stock electrical system can be very harmful in the long run. If you are getting an HID kit for your low beams, make sure you have a DRL bypass as well. afeudale was generous enough to provide the Lancer community with 2 very effective DRL bypasses. You can check them out HERE. I went with option 3... best mod ever. Cheers.

QUOTE(EVOKID @ Jul 13 2008, 08:41 PM) i just read that and wow seems kinda involved and complicated and i dont want to mess with things i dont know about what happens if you just dont bypass it even though i would love to If you don't bypass the DRLs, the HIDs will flicker on and off which is harmful to the life of your ballasts and bulbs. You need some kind of DRL bypass. When I first got mine, I had to leave the e-brake on when I parked so that the HIDs wouldn't fire up when I started the car. Started the car, turned on the HIDs, then released the e-brake. Sucks in the morning because I can barely see my navi screen :(

QUOTE(EVOKID @ Jul 14 2008, 10:59 PM) hmmm soundz like im going to have to do the bypass urghhh as if this wasnt complicated enough ... this should be a fun week trying to figure this out ... well i think i will get the ones from mobile HID because they look like they are built to last. 8000k ??? i want blue hids not white or purple so whats best 8000 or 10000 because i know 6000 are white and 120000 are purpleish If you know how to solder, then doing the DRL bypass is really easy. You can buy all the parts (except the 9006 wire) at your local RadioShack. You can actually solder the bypass right onto the wiring harness from the MobileHID kit, so that will save you a good $10! As for the HIDs, here's a nice little color scale. 3000K = Yellow 4300K = White with a slight hint of yellow 5000K = Pure Diamond White 6000K = White with a slight hint of blue 7000K = Sky Blue 8000K = Blue I'd say 7000K to match the Electric Blue GTS. It's not too much blue where you lose a lot of visibility at night, but it will still look good.

QUOTE(freakingwilly @ Jul 16 2008, 12:39 AM) Heh, you should learn! It's really easy once you get the hang of it and it comes in handy when you least expect it. Yeah learning to solder is REALLY easy, go to radio shack, $25-$30 for a soldering iron, and like $2 for solder and your in business, just take apart old electronics and practice the soldering on that, when you dont burn the circuit board your good to work on your own stuff. I learned on busted old TV's and Computers.

QUOTE(Overlord661944 @ Jul 17 2008, 10:15 AM) while we are talking about HID's i pulled this from mobileHID's website: "Are these XENON HID light systems street legal? No. All XENON HID conversion kits, no matter the source, are not DOT approved if installed outside of the factory. Moreover, in the U.S, this is not street legal for use on public roads. As a result, we officially endorse the kit for exhibition and off-road use and will only sell the kit to be used for these purposes. We are not responsible for buyers who violate the terms of sale. They will assume all responsibilities for any unauthorized or unintended use other than exhibition or off-road use." Someone please explain more for me. Most people who install aftermarket HIDs do not have a headlamp housing with projectors, instead they have the standard reflectors. While the reflectors are good at projecting light forward for a halogen bulb, they are not so great for HIDs. Because HIDs are so bright, having them in a reflector housing will produce a powerful glare to oncoming traffic and it diverts attention from the road ahead. Ever see a car drive by you with really bright headlights or their high beams on? You can help but stare right into the light... just like a deer, you get caught in the light. Projectors eliminate this glare, but the light output remains the same (if not improved). This is why aftermarket HIDs are "illegal" if they are not installed by the factory because all factory HIDs come with a projector housing.
