I only asked since there is a big different between road vs. drag.

Make the car as light as possible (remove all interior, AC, Heater Core, spare seats, spare tire, audio, etc.. and invest the majority of your money into lightweight wheels, HIGH quality tires, and the best suspension modifications. Have the vehicle corner balanced and professionally setup by a shop then tweak from there.

Regular maintenance.

Make sure everything not needed is out of the car.

Good tires.

If this is some thing you are thinking about doing, make sure you don't need the passenger seat for an instructor.

not too big. i got about 5 grand saved up just for performance.

That will not buy you performance on this car.

Spend that on your tires, 17" wheels, and suspension and just learn the technique.

Slow car good driver > Fast car bad driver
