you can get the whole tranny to replaced and make the car a manual but I'm not sure if the EVO's engine will fit into the OZ Rally without doing any mods to the engine bay ....

what year is your OZ Rally? Why don't you just you just trade it in for a EVO @ a Mitsu dealer ?? ....

EDIT: Just realized it's a '03 ..... I'd try trading the car in for an EVO instead of going through all the drama of the engine swap ....

You're telling me that he can drop and EVO8 into an Lancer without any mods besides a fwd gearbox?
First off, the engine bay is not big enough. That's the first mod.
Secondly, his entire engine/chasis harness is going to be replaced. That's the second mod.
Thirdly, I am sure you're aware of the EVO8 being AWD? Well he's going to have to replace everysort of suspension their possibly is or will be. That's the third mod. How possibly would want to match up the tranny from an older car and makeshift it to fit the EVO8 pattern? That would cost more money then the car itself. Best to just keep it AWD.
Oh, I can't forget the ECU. You can't possibly expect to run an EVO8 engine without it's counterpart do you? That's number four!
What about the steering? The steering....oh I forgot the name of it. I'll just give it a name, the steering shaft. Needs to be replaced. The LANCER's shaft is incorrect length. Five!
You're starting to get the gist of were I am going?

I concur, why would you spend that much money to put that motor in and do tons of mods just to get it fit and who knows how many problems you would have down the road....and i assume you are not doing those mods...so everytime you tweek it or something goes wrong, theres some bling..id rather say i had an evo vs a ralli art....so i think you would rather have an evo vs a oz rally...no?

1: the engine bay size is very similar, i fit an evo 5motor (identical size to evo 8 ) into my 'mirage' coupe... smaller engine bay then lancer, 1.5l 4g15....
2: there are fwd boxes that match the evo 8 block
(i know of one...)
3: with that box, theres a 70% chance the factory axels will fit
4: strip the car of its wiring loom and replace the lot with evo 8 gear, apart from the dash loom.
5:
everything else can be kept factory. have any of you guys even performed a swap?

i know my mirage is different from the 03 lancer, but they are generally thesame structure, engine mounts etc all line up.
