wow. nvm. i just read the thing under your name and says you drive an 03, which is good. first, make sure you have a container to put your screws in so you don't lose any. below the climate control thing there's a little place to put stuff, there are two screws holding that on. take all your climate control knobs off. there should be screws holding the piece in. then use as small of a screwdriver you can find and put it in the crack around the stock head unit. it's like a little panel that goes up to the wood grain thingy, it's just a little crack. pry that up and it's got little snaps holding it on. after you get one or two up you can just use your hands, and don't worry it may seem like it'll break but it probably won't. i had a little trouble w/ mine the first time. and now you've got access to the stock head unit. it's not too hard to take out just a few screws here and there. if you need any other help just ask.

I have a wiring problem with my 2003 lancer GLi, i took out the standard head deck unit, which was made by clarion i believe. I installed a new pioneer cd player, and i have wired up all the speakers, etc but for some reason when i cut the wires the power wire no longer works and is only emitting .30V instead of 12V before i cut it. I ran a new wire for that but the issue is the dash board illumination. for some reason the dash wont illuminate, and the left parking light does not work. i think it has something to do with the earth wire. If you can help please let me know something about what i can do. Thanks jamie
