Hi All,

*** My first post ! ****

I just bought an 2008 Outlander XLS yesterday (without Nav package). Should it get on Friday. It was a toss between it and the Rav4 but we liked how nicely equipped the outlander vs. the Rav4.

I have a question to ask;

I wanted to install these electronic rust proofing devices as soon as possible as I live in Toronto Area and witer salt is really bad. The dealer claims that I have to install them thru a Mitsubishi dealer otherwise it will void the warranty. Is this true? Can they do that ?

Also, the dealer wanted $1199 for that small device (includes installation). It sells for $199 at Canadian Tire down the road. Are they just trying to extort more money out of me or is it actually different?

Have a good day !

my advice is dont use either.

they are not proven effective. in theory, maybe. In the real world? Not really.
the ONLY true way to prevent rust is to keep the car clean, and the paint sealed.

if they work why dont they use them on ships?

The only way to stop the rust is pull off the door panels squirt waxol or other brand of car cavity injection wax in them dont block the drain holes and fully underseal under the car using the black stuff. Most bodyshops can do this in a day if you dont want to do it.

Keep the car salt free by spraying water underneath the wheel archs on the lips off the wheelarches and finish off with a good wax as often as possable for the top side

cover all chips in before the tin worm sets in.

Most cars go rusty at the botton of the doors and rear wheelarches but it rust from the inside out i.e perforation rust rather than outside in because their always a small amount of rain water in the bottom and they never dry out

A company called zebart use to do this treatment my partner had her mini done in 1974 and its still on the road (she sold it in 1980)
