Here's my situation:

1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0
Leaking head gasket
temperature gauge through the roof
smoke coming from under hood
coolant boiling

As a last ditch effort to avoid shelling out $1100 to replace the head gasket, I'm trying to use stop leak. Of course, I have to flush the coolant system first. So, I bought a flush kit, flush solution and stop leak.

The first thing I have to do is cut into the hose to install the flush "Tee" and I can't figure out which hose is the right one.

Can anyone help?? I'm not great with identifying engine parts beyond the basics so if anyone can point me in the direction of some engine compartment pictures to help me identify things, it would help.

Thanks!

Why not just buy a head gassket for $15 and some RTV sealent and do it yourself? lol takes only a few hours.

as for your temperature, probably your thermostat ($20 fix)

EDIT: Also, please invest in a Hayne's Manual ($15)

Just let all the antifreeze out of your motor undo your radiator hoses flush the radiator and there you go!

Be sure to catch and dispose of all the liquid as it is toxic and will kill any animal that come in contact with it. Also make sure you wash your hands thoroughly and wear gloves.

My opinion is your just asking for problems if you don't fix it right. If it works stop leak is just a temp. fix. You are going to just spend the money in the future anyhow so unless you dont have the money I would suggest just doing it right the first time and be done with it.
