So heres my story. My parents paid for half of this car + insurance as a graduation gift with the asssumption that they were going to drive it while i go dorm away from home. So... they bought my es sport 09 in full AUTOMATIC.

Good news mom! Looks like i found a way to get my car on campus!

Anyways, i would REALLY enjoy my car 10x more if it was a MANUAL.

Is it still possible to trade in? Only 3mo/2300 miles atm. The guys at the dealer are kinda hard to work with. Any tips, advise, suggestions? My car has some cosmetic mods though (only cosmetic).

talk to your dealer... get an estimate from them then, if this is possible for you in your area, go to another dealer and see if they can do better... i'm pretty sure your going to lose money either way.

From a friend I have at the dealership, they had one person come in with an 08 fully loaded GTS with under 10k and he only got about 17,650. The kid lost about 6k... you can see but you are going to loos alot regarless why you are trading it in (The kid treded his in so he can get a Ralliart later this year).

Like everyone's saying you'll probably lose money, but it really depends on how much you financed. If you put 10,000 down and only financed 10,000 then you'd be ahead in the trade. You'll prob get 16000-18000 for it, so if you financed more than that, then your going to have to roll the difference into the new loan which means higher payments or come up with like 3000-5000 down on the new car. If you have money to lose / throw at the new car, I'm sure you will find a dealer willing to work with you.

TADAAAAAA!

Seriously though, you are going to lose money by selling it back to any dealer. Your best bet is to sell it privately to help minimize your losses... or if you are a smart seller, maximize your profit :gunsmilie:

Like everyone else says.... you're gonna loose out. Stick with the auto and don't **** about it being an auto. Your parents stuck out for you.... thats pretty lucky if you ask me. Deal with the auto for a few years, until you can afford another car on your own and then get what you want.
**** if my parents paid for any part of any of my cars, let alone a brand new one I wouldn't be trading it in for the next best thing. Maybe you could try modding this one a little to make it "more enjoyable"

Ya I do have to say that you're lucky and you really are taking this whole thing for granted. Its simply ungrateful. Deal with the auto, seriously. Try driving an automatic 2000 Dodge Neon SE, then drive this car with auto. Hell of alot more fun.

You will lose money but will gain satisfaction.

Now put them both in balance, and see which side is heavier for u, and then, go for it.

^+1

I wanted a manual as well. I had to trade in my previous car quickly, it was a money pit and day to day it was becoming worse.

I wanted a black manual... they didn't have it.
They didn't have any black ones.
They had two EB ones, just came in... one CVT, one manual
The CVT had navi and all the gadgets... the Manual was basic.

I chose the CVT because I enjoy the usefulness of the navi etc.
over the Manual that was just a manual...
And I never looked back.
Wait until your next car... it might be an EVO... and that blows the doors off a Manual Lancer.

Yea, i guess ill grind it out.

Money or satisfaction, you're very right. But right now money is more of a concern rather than me enjoying a more spirited drive.
