They are most commonly called "coil-on-plug" and aren't necessary, but if you find them cheap enough go for it. they look good.

yea, not much. they give a better spark for a better burn but you won't notice a difference except what bryan said, you won't have to by plug wires anymore

Does anybody know how much the individual coils on those type of systems usually cost?

I'm just asking because I figure that would be the only thing to go bad on the system, so if they are like $80, then i can justify buying it in my mind. I figure good wires are like 80 and good coils are like what... 100 each, and that makes 280, well, buchur sells a setup for $300. To me, that's worth it.

Ok, so this weekend I removed the wastegate restrictor and hacked the dump tube off.

I also think I found the issue with the idle and the fuel cut. Will the complete absence of the 2 side and 1 lower honeycombs do that to the fuel? Keep in mind that they were removed and aboviously, the adjuster screw was not backed out flush as per the RRE instructions.

Also, does anyone have these honeycombs lying around? I'd rather put them back in rather than try to make this crap work. Also, does anybody have any pictures of what the MAF looks like with them in so I can make sure I dont have them? There is nothing in there that can be removed at all, but I just wat to make sure I'm not jumping the gun here.

i would put them back in if you still have them and they aren't damaged. yes hacking it will cause idle issues. I'm not sure about fuel cut but i can imagine it would affect this as well

Yep, the 2 sides are def missing. I don't have them. Appearently I purchased the car like that.

Does anybody have a set of honeycombs hanging around? Or even a dead MAF that still has them in it?

Yep this is the problem I've been having all this time. Tried adjusting the BOV, new plugs and wires, all kinds of other stupid stuff.

Found this quote:

Removing any of the honeycombs alters the response curve. People have seen a very lean spot at around 4k rpms with one or more of the honeycombs removed. Removing ANY h/c's without proper fuel control (AFC, etc) is a BAD idea. The STOCK 2g MAF has been proven to flow enough for more than 400 wheel horsepower.

Link to quote

I can't believe after all this time, it was something so stupid.
