So, my timing belts been acting up. It got super loud when we sprayed the belts spraying thingy. it says good for all belts, so we sprayed it on to take away the squeaks. But after a while, it just squeeks more, and now it sounds much louder then b4. Help me think of what it is. I have no clue now, since i already sprayed the belts, and nothing works. the brand i use was "Prestone Belt Dressing--Elimate squeaks and chatter".... does it really work, or another brand?

NEVER spray anything on the timing belt. change your belt, pulleys, water pump and tensioner. clean the crank sproket while your in there too

We replaced the alternator belt, cuz its not the timing belt. but i still hear the sound. you can hear it loud when u start the engine... then it does away... then comes back when u rev to 2000 or above... it squeaks a little when u rev high.... not as much as when u was in the 2-3000 rpms. Should i just replace all the belts... and im not sure, but he gave me some engine cleaning sprays... im not sure what that'll help.

clean your alternator belt and increase your pulley tension.

I not so sure about your model of car, but to increase the tension for standard there is few difference way.

1) you can check at you alternator whether there is a adjustable bolt, if yes, loss the lock nut than tighten the tension bolt. (but remember not over tighten) than tighten back the lock nut. start your engine n ram it, if the sound still exsit, repeat to increase more tension again, othewise you are done

2) If you can see any pulley in between clamp shafft pulley and the altehnator, apply the same mathod loss the lock nut at the adjustable bolt, tighten the bolt and lock back the nut.

3) if you can see any puse bearing in between the shaff and althenator, loss the lock nut, tighten the adjustable bolt puse the bearing increase the tension and lock back the nut.

4) without any pulley in between. loss all bolt and nuts at the alternator and use a wrange to force wider the althernator away for the engine than tighten back the bolt and nuts before release the wrange.

5) take some picture n send it to me. i will reply u after viewing it. remember, all bolt or nut surround at alternator, and belt

After you tighten it down, it should be tight enough so that you can push down on the belt about half an inch

A timing belt doesn't squeak. Its cogged, not friction driven like your alternator belt. DON'T SPRAY ANY MORE DRESSING ON IT. Just replace your accessory belts and tighten them so you get 1/4 turn or 1/2" of deflection on them. Or you can be fancy and get the "super duper belt tensioning gauge meter thing" NASA uses. LOL
But seriously replace the accessory belts and I guarantee the squeaking will go away.
