Hi
I have a Mitsubishi Carisma Equippe 1.9 DI-D (2003) and have just been told via a quick diagnostic check by a dealer that I have an air flow sensor problem.
Today when I was out in the car I had a sudden surge of power a few times (felt as if it was puttering) and then driving down the motorway noticed white smoke coming out of the exhaust. When we stopped the car and revved the engine, there were large burst of black smoke at very high revs. On restarting the car, the engine emissions light came on. Luckily we were near a dealership who ran the diagnostic for us. We managed to get the car home with no loss of power or revs, no smoke but a light on the dashboard - oh and the fuel being consumed at an alarming rate - which I understand is a symptom of this fault.
The question I have is, how much is it to replace one of these sensors as the garage quoted us a ball park figure of £400 :o
