Hey guys I bought a Grey 2008 Lancer GTS a week ago with Navi, but no fun & sun package, so no Rocksford Sound system and no sunroof.... Should I have RCAs accessible from the front of the dash??

2nd Question is What is FAST Key??? and can I get it for my car if I do not have it?

3rd Does my current key have the special chip in it that if its not near my car, the car cant start?

4th Security Systems??? I believe I only have keyless entry, no type of security system?? I plan on installing an aftermarket unit that works WITH my keyless entry, the question is there a stock alarm system avail so I dont have to rely on aftermarket??

I appoligize in advance for any double questions, I have read many many forums and topics and haven't really found any answers... so I appreciate any answers given.

Thanks!!

1 - i believe the rca jacks come with the nav or the sun and sound package

2 - FAST key is a true keyless entry and ignition start system. Basically you just have to have the FOB (like a keyless remote) in your pocket or jacket or purse, just on you somewhere and when you grab the door handle the doors automatically unlock. Then when you get in the car you just turn the ignition, no key needed to start it. No key needed, no pushing buttons on the remote to unlock doors. Just grab the handle to unlock and turn the ignition to start. I love this feature!! It came with the NAV on the 2008 and with the sun and sound package or nav tech package on the 2009.

3 - I have the fast key, so my actual key does not have a chip in the key. But the key does have to be mounted in the FOB in order for it to work. In other words if you try to use the key without it hooked into the FOB it will not work. I dont really know if the non fast key cars have a chip in the key.

4 - with the fast key system there is an alarm system. it is activated by pushing the button on the outside door handle or button on the fob

Just going to elaborate on some of the questions NY-09GTS wasn't totally sure about.

#1) The Audio RCA jacks (red and white) only come with the Sun and Sound Package. If you have the Navi package as well, then you get the A/V input (red, white, and yellow).

#3) All of the keys have a security chip that prevents the car from being started if the chip is not located near the car.

The stock alarm system is just a panic feature. There has not been one instance where my car alarm went off... but then again, I haven't really tested it out either (nor do I want to.)

Kudos on the quick reply though NY-09GTS

Because the dealers don't drive these cars on a daily basis. Often times, they have little to no personal experience with the vehicles options themselves. They know what they do, they just don't use it all the time.

Would you rather learn how to fish from a guy who has read books on how to fish... or the guy who has been fishing for quite some time?

Just my $0.02

Thanks, I happened to be browsing the forum when this question showed up, one I could actually answer. :o) I also figured someone would clarify on what I wasn't sure about. Team effort!!
I dont want my alarm tested either, but if someone could get the door open while the alarm is on it will sound off. It has break in protection basically. I dont think a broken window would set it off, but break the window and then open the door without turning the alarm off and it will sound off. A forced open door or trunk will set it off too. I only test I did was open the window, set the alarm, move the fob away from the car, reach in and open the door, and it goes off.

Yeah I accidently opened the door reaching though the window too.... needless to say that is one loud alarm. However I had my fob on me at the time, so I wonder if thats just a GTS feature. ESs dont have the smart key option, so I dont' think we have the chip
Broken windows def wont' set it off.
Its just a passive alarm, no shock sensors or anything. Really the only thing that will set it off is forced entry.

Lucky Canadians...

The only thing my dealer did for me was... well, sell me the car. But then again, I already knew everything about the car so there wasn't much for him to explain.

I <3 Research!!!
