Hey All
I recently purchased my first car a 1993 Mitsubishi Nimbus. The car is an automatic model and I have the feeling that it is running a bit sluggish. I know that the Nimbus isn't suppose to be a powerful car, but mine seems to struggle a bit up hills and the engine sounds like it's working hard especially when you try to accelerate. I've never driven a Nimbus before so I am not sure what is normal and what's not. I know my transmission fluid needs to be drained and replaced as the fluid in my vehicle is yellow instead of red. Would this improve performance? Does anyone know how much a service such as this would cost? I also have a slight oil leak and was wondering what that could be. Also I was curious as the the running costs of a vehicle such as this, as I spoke to my mum and she thinks that I shouldn't be spending so much on petrol. At the moment I run my partner to work and back 4-5days out of the week and that's about 10kms away, grocery trips to shop a few times a week about 2 kms away and one or two trips a week to my mums about 12kms away. At the moment from a quarter tank I put $50 fuel in and that last about 7-8 days to get back to a quarter of a tank. Does that sound like too much?? And is there a warning light that will go on when I am really empty?
Hope someone can help
Cheers

There is a low fuel warmning lamp. Well a transmission service could really help. If the transmission filter is really restricted/dirty and having a really hard time of getting the fluid through, which would put sumwut of a strain on the drive train. Which engine do yu have? Also i would check the fuel filter. It may be really restricted. Also depending of if the timing or ignition system has ever been serviced.

it wouldn't hurt the engine to give it a full service (unless its old and you use engine flush) make sure you change the air filter, with a slight oil leak keep an eye on oil level, the oil leak might be only you're rocker gasket which is very common on all cars, unless its dropping the oil fast or you just want to change it then just keep an eye on it, most cars have at least one very slight oil leak which is relatively harmless and just makes the engine mucky but it stops the rust
