Hi, sorry i cant help with this, but I would like to know if you tracked your MPG before the repair was done, as I have just purchased the same 2.8D and I am only getting around 18mpg (15litres per 100km) around town. this is way worse than the car dealer told me I would get.
He suggested around 10litres per 100 kms, I cant even get this on a trip.
Cheers
tonyr

Hi Guys Sorry to hear your fuel problems. I have a 1996 2.8td Challenger and I am getting around 25miles to the gallon and that's around town. However I have added some turbo mags on the fuel line, these did make a noticeable difference and I also add about 10 ltrs of veg oil to a near full tank of fuel. This actually makes it run smoother and less black smoke also less emissions.
Regards Dazza

Hi Dazza.

thanks for that, can you and anyone else tell me what tyres you are running and how hard you run them.
I have added a a set of Bridgestone Dueler 604V 10R15, they are a fraction taller than standard. although checking speed with GPS does not seem to have changed.
I was running 36psi and just pumped up to 38psi. It made the ride harder but I can notice it roles easier. I am keen to do some testing on this. Sad though as it did not make any difference to the economy.
I just did a day run from Christchurch to Dunedin (New Zealand ), got back to Oamaru before I had to fill up. It took 59.34 litres for 498.8km = 11.9litres per 100km or 19.77 MPG open road speed of 100 to 115km per hour with 3 people most of the way. No Air Con and head lights on part of the way. no crazy passing, some hill for the last 1/4 of the trip (from Oamaru to Dunedin), the rest is flat country.

From Oamaru to Christchurch after seeing the poor result I changed my target speed to 100km on the open rd. Again no air con and some lights part of the way. 3 people for 1/3rd and 2 people 2/3rds. it took 28.22 litres for 257km = 10.98 or 21.42mpg.

(all speeds checked with GPS where the GPS says 100km the speedo shows 102km, tyres at 38psi )

One thing I have noticed is it looks like and old fuel filter on this, could that muck up things some how, ie starving the motor for fuel ?? HELP.

Any and all feedback welcome,
Ruffty
