Most likely seems to be an issue with the TCM itself. Most likely as of why it wasnt shifting. When the TCM isnt powering the transmissions solenoids the valve body can onlee send clutch pressure to the 3rd gear drum. So as of why it wasnt shifting and stayed in a upper gear. But for wut ever reason when the TCM either regained power or started to function again , it started accurately reading the input shaft sensor speed and adruptlly shifted into a lower gear before it was able to vary the shift pressure.

Yu can check the fuse for the TCM in the car's fuse panel. Make sure it isnt loose or sumthing like a wire or anything isnt jointly hooked to it. In most case the TCM itself could be near totally failing and would need to be replaced.

The fuse should be in the inside fuse panel. It may say (4AT) , thats the fuse for the TCM. The TCM is located in the center floor under the dash , under the a/c box/under front center console.
