I own a Pajero 3,2 DID turbo diesel of year 2001. It all started when I pulled a small boat trailer. I connected the trailer lights to the hook plug and the left indicator was short-circuited. I removed it and the car indicators worked OK. I drove aprox. 5Km and delivered the trailer. On my way back the car started "Knoking" and lost power at low RPM. For example, when I stop at the traffic lights, it has hard time to accelerate eventhough the pedal is squeezed to its end! I parked it in my garage and left it for the night. Next morning it started very difficult (I had to press the throttle and after a lot of "knocking" it starts, but it is so weak that it cannot climb the garage ramp to get out. However, at higher RPM (>2000) it works like normal, it even reaches 200Km/H on the highway. I took it to a garage, where they changed every disposable material (Air filter, Oil+Oil filter, Diesel filter, Cooling liquid, etc.), The problem still persists and I took it to garage with OBD scanning capability. It's been 3 days now and they chew their words: We get 3 error messages two for emission sensors and one for can-bus communication error. We do not know what is the exact problem... we checked the cables and connectors ok and probably you need a new ECU (this really scared me, since everything else works OK and there was no MIL light on). Today I decided to pick it up, since I am afraid they do not know what they are doing. The closest Mitsubishi representative is 300Km from here and I am afraid I will mess with more delays and expenses. Can anybody help on what might be the problem? Thanks a lot.

After the trailer hitch incident and all , did yu atleast inspect yur fuse panels for all the fuses? There are common fuses that run 2 or more item that is not gegtting adiquete power. This could be the issue since there is a communication error betwen the ECM and BCM or an other control module.

No, I did not check, since all tail-lights etc. work fine. Following your advice I checked all fuses, They visually all looked OK, however with help of a multitester I located and replaced a suspicious one (the "legs" of the fuse were moveable without indication on the tester). Now everything works OK. I saved a lot of money (getting shivers on the ECU replacing idea...) and I want to thank you for the advice that actually solved the problem.
