Hello everybody,
My Colt turns on the engine indicator and prevents the engine to increase RPM(max 2000 RPM).
The Mitsubishi engineers tell me that this is usual in the new COLT and it only needs an engine software upgrade, because it is caused by a software bug and a false alarm.
After a few on/off of the ignition, the light turns off and the engine accelerates normally, until the next time the indicator lights again.

Is anyone else familiar with this problem? Is it usual to happen as they tell me?
Do i have to worry for something heavier than just a software upgrade?

Please advice...

Wut model do yu have? I have had to update a few Colt R's , Mirage Asti's , Lancer GSR's etc and a few other models ranging in the 2002-2006 range with updated software. Mainly sum automatic models. They were models that were driving fine and then one day started emitting the light and the rpm was limited to 2000 and 2300 RPM . Most the times these software update were dun on the PCM as a campaign and no charge were encoured to the customer. Most times the initial diagnosis / code read was charged to the customer.

Most the times the initial charge was thus refunded under the campaign. Did they tell yu or did yu find out wut the light was emitting for? Get a code. The cam position sensor can emit this code also and reduce powertrain power. Also a faulty intake system (baro sensor/ air metering etc) Also a fault in INVECS II cancel command can cause this also (TCM trans logic controls)
