Does anyone know something about this CAI. Is it worth the price, does it fit properly, does it cause check engine light? you know the usual headaches that come with some lower quality CAI's.

I'm looking at dooing a CAI real soon and I'm not sure to go AEM or Injen?

Comments and Feedback are welcome and appreciated.

It's going into a 2008 Lancer GTS 2.0L in Ontario, Canada

Here's a link to the AEM CAI:

Either way you're paying for the name. You can easily get a cone off ebay or at an auto parts store. Have an exhaust shop bend you some pipes to make an intake. They are probably going to be steel instead of aluminum, so there will be no weight loss there. But its gonna be hell of a lot cheaper.
AEM makes good parts though so you shouldn't have a problem with it. If you do it right it wont be throwing codes.

Overall though everyone here has been going with the Injen, and they seem to like it. Power seems good and no complaints. Install seemed easy.... talk to willy, he did his own and theres a How To sticky post. I'm sure he'll post soon enough in here though :bwekk:

I hate working late nights :(

But this is actually the first time I've seen AEM's CAI. My problem is that the people over at Lancer Tuners were saying that this intake fits the manual/non-CVT transmissions only because they weren't going to do a CVT cooler remount (they didn't want to be an Injen clone). The website is still really sketchy on the details.

Don't get me wrong, AEM's looks great and the piping seems to be a bit wider than Injen's (wider piping = more air flow = more performance). I'll wait for a dyno sheet and other people's reviews. For the time being, I'll stick it out with Injen.

What does that mean? If (and ONLY IF) AEM's CAI really rocks more socks than Injen's, I'll consider the switch. And yes, that will mean my CAI would be up for sale... but SixFeetDeep will have first dibs on it. He's been dying for one

I'm with you on this one! I just can't see paying that much for a bunch of bent pipes and a cone, with a sticker slapped on for good looks. Maybe someday when I'm not worrying about rent!

Sorry to break your heart, but AEM's intake is for the MANUAL TRANSMISSION ONLY. So I'm keeping the Injen!

Us CVT owners are for the loss... Injen, eat your heart out!

Why some companies aren't making the products as a universal between the CVT & Stick is beyond me. Their just shooting themselves in the foot on their overall profits.
Oh well......not like I'm going to buy their intake anyway....too much $$$$$.

Hate to agree....but I will. I would have prefered getting the stick.....they are more fun, but I have been really happy with the CVT. Paddle shifting when you want stick like fun & relaxed driving leaving it in CVT mode when you want to relax...best of both worlds.

Plus the CVT guys/gals have 6 dedicated gears...not 5 :bwekk: FTW HA!

Manual drivers are just jealous that there cars aren't s-l-o-w off the line like our CVT's are

lol SixFeetDeep, you CVT owners have been fooled, you have 6 imaginary gears!
Paddle shifting is only there to create the illusion of gears.

oh btw my pet snail beat my mates CVT off the line. CVT FTL HA!
