alright for now i just want to swap out the headunit with a 7 inch touchscreen, do i need an instalation kit or any other crap like that, or will all the wires just hook up?
i got a 2000 eclipse gt if that will help

depends...... are you switching swapping the stock unit out for the 7 inch screen?.... if so all the wires you need are under the passenger side seat....... at least thats where they should be.... i have a 2001 eclipse GS and thats where all mine were at and you'll need to pull the seat out of the car and center console to get to the wires and relocate to the area where you need them to be.

I believe there is only 1 or 2 touchscreen headunits that will work in the 3g. My friend has an 01 GT eclipse and Bobthecow who is the best Car Audio guy on here told him there was only 1 that would work for his car. And if you find one that will work all you need to do is buy the wiring harness for it and pull the center console to get to the necessary wires.

Either that or you are talking about a heavy bit of modification to the dash piece that covers that stereo. It is hard enough as it is to get a single DIN in those **** things. Could you imagine trying to put a double din in it?
